Dear Tana Family!

Last Sunday, we discussed  about our plans and accomplishments regarding Tana Haik.Here is our discussion.

1. We decided to present a motivation gift package for 24 honor students 3 girls and 3 boys from grades 9 – 12 for this closing of Academic year.
2. We talked about having a dinner program for our teachers. So this time our friends from different batches will host the dinner program. We already contacted former students from ’95 batch to organize the dinner.
3. We will have an event inside the school, days before the opening of next academic year more details about the special event post on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/199715596804017/).
4. We are planning to send books from USA & Europe for our school library using Ethiopian airlines so we are trying to contact the airlines officials about getting the free shipping (we will post the respond on FB page) as soon as we hear from them.
5. We will have a fundraising event on beginning of July 2013 at the Ethiopian soccer tournament in Washington, D.C. Also we will be hosting a special get together tea/coffee program with former students during the soccer tournament. We will distribute posters & flyers of our school and the work we did for our students at the event.
6. Some of our members from abroad will be in Bahir Dar on next September they will have their own project for our school.

Our next meeting will be on June 29, 2013 . We hope to hear from most of you on the meeting and to see you at the tournament for the one that live in the U.S.

April 28, 2013 Skype Meeting Report

1. Former students from Ethiopia,Canada,USA,Finland and UK of different batches started the meeting by introducing each other and with updates on the previous tasks.
2. According to the report from our members in Bahir Dar the expansion of additional internet lines is being done by former students in Bahir Dar, full report will be posted soon.
3. New ideas were raised for book collection and fundraising events to improve the facility of our new library.
4. It is agreed to work on the consistency of rewarding best students and holding annual dinner program for teachers. Annual dinner programs for former teachers  will be organized by a different batch each year to give everyone the chance to participate as Tana Family member.
5. The next Ethiopian soccer tournaments will recently be held in DC, USA and Europe. So our members abroad are planning to organize an event and reach out more former Tana graduates.
6. Finally all attendees shared  tasks till the next meeting (May 26,2013). Additional updates will be posted by individuals on the Facebook page. All Tana Family members are highly encouraged to share ideas, comment on posts and participate on the events.
