Agenda : Fund raising at DC soccer tournament and motivational award to top students

In our monthly regular Skype meeting we were discussing about two current and urgent issues on the basis raising a fund fund from former students at the Ethiopian soccer tournament in Washington, D.C and what to do to award outstanding students in the school at the end of the academic year.

After many discussions we managed to design two possible ideas to reach out former students of our school who are coming in the soccer tournament. Hand to hand distributing of flyers and organizing a tea party are our next plan to do by the coming week. Solomon Nurga and Lealemselam are our responsible candidates to prepare flyers and to organize tea party events. The exact place and time of the events will be created and announced in our Facebook group account soon. The potential date and time will be on the coming Friday around 11 am DC time. At this event we are expecting to have more active members and to create strong Tana family bond; and apparently more money to raise.

As we have discussed last time, awarding top students was one of our plan to do on this academic year. Based on this, we discussed about what to do for these students on the official closing ceremony of the school. Our decision so far is to award top 3 students in each class room. The amount of money we budget will depend on the amount of money we raise at the football tournament. Tewodros Tesera and Mastewal Alemu will handle this job together with the school administrators. Our next meeting will be July 28,2013 and this time we will consider convenient  time to our members in Australia.

Dear Tana Family!

Last Sunday, we discussed  about our plans and accomplishments regarding Tana Haik.Here is our discussion.

1. We decided to present a motivation gift package for 24 honor students 3 girls and 3 boys from grades 9 – 12 for this closing of Academic year.
2. We talked about having a dinner program for our teachers. So this time our friends from different batches will host the dinner program. We already contacted former students from ’95 batch to organize the dinner.
3. We will have an event inside the school, days before the opening of next academic year more details about the special event post on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/199715596804017/).
4. We are planning to send books from USA & Europe for our school library using Ethiopian airlines so we are trying to contact the airlines officials about getting the free shipping (we will post the respond on FB page) as soon as we hear from them.
5. We will have a fundraising event on beginning of July 2013 at the Ethiopian soccer tournament in Washington, D.C. Also we will be hosting a special get together tea/coffee program with former students during the soccer tournament. We will distribute posters & flyers of our school and the work we did for our students at the event.
6. Some of our members from abroad will be in Bahir Dar on next September they will have their own project for our school.

Our next meeting will be on June 29, 2013 . We hope to hear from most of you on the meeting and to see you at the tournament for the one that live in the U.S.
