The following report is an informal report written to share the feeling of  every moment (all times are local time)

1. Our members arrived at Desset lodge at 10:00 to arrange the stage, seats, screen, sound system and so on! Here we want to pass on our gratitude to Melaku Basazinew for arranging the stage, Gashaw Mihiret for all the video recording materials, Yirgalem for the LCD projector,Yibelital Mesifin for the sound system, Amelework for her devotion to facilitate the stage programs and welcoming our guests. Generally all members were so cooperative for the success of this ceremony. 

2. Our guests took their seats from 11:30-11:45. Some of our former teachers couldn’t wait until the exact time and arrived before 12LT (6PM). Most of them wore unique dresses, suits, and cultural closes,  they had shining faces and were so exited. When they met us, they were totally overwhelmed. Our pictures and videos may express a lot.

3. The program started at 12:00, The stage was led by Habitam Gizachew, a journalist and former student of Tana Haik.

4. We then had a one minute prayer/ “Yihilina Tselot” for our former teachers who passed away.

5. Short speech about the aim of the dinner and Inauguration Ceremony, reports, short and long term plan of the union were presented.

6. Dinner program. The dinner was mouth-watering “buffe” with beer and soft drinks. The place of the stage was in front of Lake Tana with a marvelous view. Special thanks for Desset Lodge administration, The owner is our member (former Tana haik student) we thank him for his donation.

7. History of Tana Haik Comprehensive secondary school from 1957EC until now presented by Ato Azmeraw (former history teacher)

8. Literatures by our former teachers Ato Misganaw Fenkilew (English Teacher), Ato Gebeyehu (Amharic teacher).

9. One of the poems that touched all of our hearts was “Memihir hugne arejehu”/ I grew old as a teacher by Ato Misganaw Fenkilew. He compared his life as a teacher with a fish in water, saying “If I am out of the teaching profession I will be like a fish outside water.”  This was one of the goals of the program, thanking our teachers and giving respect to their profession. Some of our teachers are working in offices now and they expressed how they miss their profession. 

10. Poem by our member Amelework and Nasir about teaching profession and the salary of teachers. Funny occasions when we were student are presented by Nasir Adem and Dr. Abeselom.

11. Some of our teachers were invited by our members to share their feelings: Mastewal Alemu invited Ato Siraw Yihun, Wro. Dessie and Ato Misganaw.  Dr. Abisolom invited Ato Tsegaw and Ato Berhe together (role models for long friendship) and Ato Almaw.  Behailu Yirga invited Wro Aster and Wro Asnakech, Tewodros Tesera Invited Ato Omer, Ato Fantahun and Ato chane. Nasir Adem Invited Ato Alene Birhanu, Ato Yeshanew, Ato Misganaw and Ato Bililign.

12. A framed statement of former students’ gift (Furniture and books for the library) was given by our representative Dr. Abeselom to the current Director of the school.

13. Closing speech by Dr. Abeselom about our future plan.

14. Photo program of all students with our former teachers, the program ended at 2:30 evening (8:30PM).

15.  Finally transportation to all destinations of Hospital, Alkan, Gebya, Kebele14 was provided by our group member Dawed, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to him.

A CD of the whole program is being prepared for tomorrow and we planned to send it to our members. Please forward your postal address to the organisers.
